ABOUT: Andy Yang

Andy Yang is a Malaysian-born, Singapore-based multi-disciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, drawing, installation, sound, and performance. Over the past two decades, he has become known for expanding the visual possibilities of abstraction, exploring oil, acrylic, ink, and mixed media with exceptional technical dexterity. His work is driven by intuition and emotion, often shaped by musical concepts of harmony and counterpoint, resulting in compositions that resolve into nuanced, atmospheric fields rather than literal expression.

Yang’s innovative approach has led to high-profile commissions, including Audi’s customised e-tron GT “Electric Dreams” for the Singapore Motorshow 2023, as well as installations for Resorts World Sentosa and One Farrer Hotel & Spa. He has presented solo and group exhibitions at The Private Museum, London Tech Week (in collaboration with the Singapore Economic Development Board), and the Singapore International Festival of Arts, among others. His performance works have been showcased at leading institutions such as the ArtScience Museum, Asian Civilisations Museum, and the National Museum of Singapore.

Known for his openness to collaboration and his seamless movement between visual and sonic languages, Yang’s works are held in both private and public collections internationally.

“The pandemic merely accelerated the presence of technology in art. As it is, technology has already changed the way we view, appreciate and consume art and it will continue to do so”
