"Eternal Brews” is a meditation on time, identity, and the quiet constants that shape our lives. Set in a familiar Kopitiam, the painting captures a moment that has remained unchanged despite the ever-evolving landscape of Singapore. The figure—wrapped in a latex-like sheen—represents the duality of existence, where individuals are both present and veiled, navigating the roles they perform in daily life.
For over eight years, I have ordered coffee from the same Kopitiam uncle, witnessing the world shift around us while this simple act remains a constant. The glossy, almost sculptural texture of the figure reflects the tension between memory and modernity, between what is preserved and what fades away.
