ABOUT: Akang Jamir

Akangsenep Jamir is a fine artist based in Dimapur, Nagaland, working primarily in oil and contemporary mixed media. His practice is rooted in the themes of faith, identity, and the human condition — exploring the tension between vulnerability and redemption, clarity and concealment, the sacred and the deeply personal.

Jamir holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Painting from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and approaches the canvas with an intuitive, process-driven method, allowing meaning to unfold through the act of making. His work has been exhibited at the Hornbill Festival in collaboration with Artsy Naga and with Nagaland Tourism, and was recognised with the top prize at the Jumbish Creations Art Competition 4.0 (Landscape) in 2020. His artworks have been published in the Arts To Hearts Project: Artist of the Year 2025 and in The Little Journal of Northeast India.
