Kelumpang Burung, native to Southeast
Asia’s lowland and hill forests, is known
for its striking red pods that split open to
reveal glossy black seeds—an irresistible
food source for birds, which in turn
disperse the tree across the landscape.
This sculpture draws on that image of
clustered seeds as a sign of abundance,
highlighting how a single tree supports
entire ecosystems. Kelumpang Burung
becomes a reminder of generosity,
renewal, and nature’s continual exchange.
