This painting was partially inspired by Alice’s visits to Paris where she discovered the glorious colours of French hand-painted Sevres porcelain. Alice loves flowers, and the roses in this painting are a variety called 'Pierre de Ronsard’ roses, a French hybrid that grows in Alice’s grandmother’s Canberra garden.
